| The BookSanctuarY was started in Johnthebookman's home who collected unwanted books and offered them homes in the dry. After a short while books had to live in the shed, greenhouse, the kitchen and finally the bathroom. When the living room had constricted to a narrow passage something had to change. | An active search of the university area of Reading in Berkshire, England revealed many possible orphanages for the books but all proved too expensive. That is until an old engineering workshop offered some hope for the books. The premises were being developed into an antique centre and a small room was secured to offer some sanctuary. However there was not enough space and two expansions later several tens of thousands of books are offered sancuary. And all wanting new homes | |||||
