Linlithgow Book Festival

E-mail Print PDF

For those of you in Scotland, particularly the ‘Central Belt’, I feel compelled to direct your attention to the upcoming Linlithgow Book Festival. This event was founded in 2006, originally as a one day event, but has now expanded to three days. This year the festival runs from 29 to 31 October.

Not only is this festival growing but it is also attracting established, highly regarded authors. Details on the programme can be found on the festival’s website here. There is a ‘criminal’ theme this year, and there are two events that I’m anticipating, both on the 30th. The first is Alasdair Gray, a hero of mine who I described as one of my favourite writers in an earlier blog posting; he will be talking about his writing and newest book, A Life in Paintings. The second is an ‘Open Mike’ night on the same day, a free event at which the organisers are allowing all and any writers to read some of their poetry or prose; an excellent opportunity for budding writers.

For anyone who lives within travelling distance of Linlithgow I recommend paying the festival a visit, as these developing events deserve our support.

Until next time,

Thomas
