Building the Book Sanctuary web site Featured

When Thomas said he had an idea for selling eBooks a small warning bell went off in my head. As he described it in more detail I knew my suspicions that a web site might be involved were well founded. This then quickly turned into feelings of excitement and anticipation as I realised this could be the beginning of something really good.

His idea of turning the work of new, unpublished writers (and published if they want to) into eBooks that they could then sell to the world was typical of our general outlook on life. To help people fulfill their dreams by publishing their work for them and providing a platform to build an online community area for writers and readers.

This is an introductory page, but we intend for this area of the website to be a full eZine where the contributors are you, the Book Sanctuary community.

    Hi Fran,

Like any website we will keep aiming to improve as many areas as possible. The forum functions are working in our tests, but in order to help people become accustomed to the site we will be uploading some help documents soon. These will include screenshots and step by step instructions. In the meantime we'll continue to offer support and advice for any issues. Any users can email enquiries@booksanctuary.co.uk and we'll do our best to help.

New blog entry due soon and further help documentation will also arrive as soon as possible.

    All the best,

    Thomas

Yes, it does have the feel of a work in progress.

I haven't found it at all easy to fathom. For example, I can't work out how to leave a post on either book talk or author's soapbox. I can read other people's post and see that I have made none myself but can't I find out where to make a post myself. It is making me feel stupid but I comfort myself with the knowledge that I have left dozens of post on other websites and blogs.

    Hi Fran (and other users)

Thomas and Sheila have been telling me about some good feedback from yourself about the site. When I came to this section, I noticed it was filling up with spam comments from some bogus registrations we have. I have now deleted these comments and those users.
So, as a result of this and checking your registration status, permissions etc, I have updated a few settings and made it so that folk now have to log in to post a comment. Please feel free to try again and let us know about any issues you may have.
Speak to you again soon :-)
    Cheers - Brian
