How to use Kindle for PC/Mac

In order to have the best viewing experience of your ‘mobi’ files, we recommend using the Kindle Reader software for PC and Mac; of course these files are also optimised for the Amazon Kindle reading device. Below are instructions of how to download the software and how to use it most effectively.

In order to download the free Kindle application that allows you to read eBooks, follow this link, at which stage you will have the option of multiple applications. These applications are applicable for the following devices:

  • PC
  • Apple Mac
  • iPhone
  • iPad
  • Android phones

Once you select the device application the Amazon website will walk you through downloading and installing the software.

These applications will be perfect for viewing the ‘mobi’ files from Book Sanctuary, and another function of this software is to manage your eBook library if you have an Amazon Kindle device. In order to view your ‘mobi’ file using this application, simply save the eBook onto your computer and open the file; it is likely that your computer will automatically open in the Kindle application, or at least ask you to select the program.

Once you’ve viewed your eBook in the application, it will keep a copy of the book on your home page so that you can easily find it next time you open the application. When viewing an eBook you have various options to navigate around the book:

  • ‘Bookmark’ – you can bookmark individual pages to find them easily.
  • ‘Go To’ – this menu allows you to navigate to the following areas of the eBook:

                      - ‘Cover’ – view the cover of the eBook

                      - ‘Table of Contents’ – links to each individual chapter with a single click

                      - ‘Beginning’ – takes you to the first page after the cover

                      - ‘Location’ – a search option where you enter a keyword to find a point in the eBook.

We hope this article is helpful, if you have any further enquiries regarding reading ‘mobi’ files please email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .
